More Information

Best known for documenting urban scenes in her native New York City, Levitt does not observe with a pitying eye. Instead, she shows the urban children she photographs as self-assured and creative. Levitt spent her career capturing daily dramas as they played out on the sidewalks, streets and front steps of the city.
