For the past 90 years the Akron Art Museum has been enriching lives through modern art across the region.
Enjoy free gallery admission to the Collection and Special Exhibition galleries. Special performance by the Jesse Dandy Band at 1 pm, joined by artist Al Bright at 2 pm.
Last day to see Landscapes from the Age of Impressionism. Also enjoy Michelle Droll: Landslide/Between a Rock and a Place and SuperNatural: Landscapes by Bruce Checefsky and Barry Underwood.

Between a Rock and a Place
On View through February 19, 2012
Kent area artist Michelle Droll uses paint scraps from her studio, Styrofoam and other recycled man-made materials to construct objects that represent landscape as both a physical and imaginary place. Droll transforms the museum’s Judith Bear Isroff gallery with a vibrant sculptural installation that brings landscape painting to life while at the same time referencing present-day environmental concerns.

Stranger in Paradise: The Works of Reverend Howard Finster Opens February 25
A self-proclaimed "Man of Visions," Reverend Howard Finster was one of America's most widely known and prolific self-taught artists, producing over 46,000 art objects before his death in 2001. Finster's charisma and religious fervor gave rise to a remarkably unconvential and fascinating artistic career. Stranger in Paradise allows us to explore Finster's visions and religious beliefs as well as the influence of history and popular culture on the artist's psyche.

SuperNatural: Landscapes by Bruce Checefsky and Barry Underwood

Cleveland artists Bruce Checefsky and Barry Underwood utilize the effects of atmospheric light in addition to outside light sources to create ephemeral moments in the landscape that give viewers the sense of discovering hidden worlds. Their inventive use of photography and light alters our perception of the landscape to reveal unseen aspects.
