On Thursday, July 9, 2009, the museum kicks off it's summer concert series Downtown@Dusk with the Wanda Hunt Band, playing "old school" rhythm & blues. In addition to the concert, patrons can enjoy the following activities:
- Family Fun Night, 6 - 8:30 pm
Join museum educators for a fun-filled evening of art making designed for children and an accompanying adult.
- ArtTalk@Dusk, 7:30 - 7:45 pm
Canine Appreciation 101: A Brief History of the Dog in Art, Laura Gelfand, University of Akron art history professor
As if feasts for the ears and brains aren’t enough, you can feed your bellies with tasty treats from Akron’s masters of grilled cheese, the Lockview, and quench your thirst with an imported beer outside under the museum’s terrace. Stop inside and browse the gift shop. The museum’s galleries are open until 9 pm with paid gallery admission. Parking is free after 6 pm in the city deck adjacent to the library.
No smoking, pets, bottles, cans, bikes, skateboards, sporting equipment or chalk allowed. In case of inclement weather, concerts will take place inside the museum’s Beatrice Knapp McDowell Grand Lobby.
