The 15th Annual Akron Wine Auctionat the Akron Art MuseumSaturday, June 12, 2010 , 6:30 pm |
This year, rediscover what makes the Wine Auction Akron's premiere event. Held in the museum for the first time ever, attendees will enjoy great food, company, atmosphere and, of course, the finest vintages. The evening's featured winemakers are Burgess Cellars and Firestone Vineyard, both of Napa Valley.
Burgess Cellars, located on the slopes of Howell Mountain, focuses on creating exceptional, hand-crafted estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Syrah. Somewhat unique in that it is truly a family-owned winery which has employed the same winemaker, Bill Sorenson, since the winery's re-birth in 1972, Burgess also has ties to Akron - it's founder, Tom Burgess, was born and raised in Cuyahoga Falls. His son and business partner, Steve Burgess, will be the featured guest at this year's wine auction. For more information visit www.burgesscellars.com.
Providing the evening's whites, Santa Barbara's Firestone Vineyard focuses on optimal physiological balance in the vines yielding wines that are brightly flavored, crisp and delicious. Estate Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah vineyards are located on a series of mesas that have gravelly sub-soils, ideally oriented for perfect exposure. For more information visit www.firestonewine.com.
Dinner will be catered by Cleveland's Spice of Life Catering Company. View the complete menu by clicking on the related link below. For your bidding pleasure, the live and silent auctions will feature exclusive wines, exciting trips and unique services.
